Charitable Status
An innovative Organisation, World of Whispers is pro-actively raising funds to establish itself as a charitable enterprise and improve premises to facilitate the expansion of opportunities currently available to children and adults who are:
- Suffering terminal or chronic illness or recovering from serious trauma or accident
- Disabled, socially disadvantaged or have learning difficulties
- Have been isolated, excluded or are on the verge of exclusion from society
- Have been the victim of abusive, bullying relationships in the home, workplace or school yard
Achieving Charitable Status in order to offer the above is vital to WOW! so any donations you can make of any amount or any fund raising activity you can undertake on our behalf is very much appreciate. Please contact Helen or Mandy for more information on how you can help.
What’s Available?
WOW! World of Whispers offers people of all ages and abilities the chance to benefit from sharing quality time and space with a very special family of horses. WOW! guests can choose from a variety of Experiences in each of the following areas:
Therapeutic - that increase health, hope and wellbeing and heighten sensory awareness
Developmental – that improve Self-knowledge and advance soft skills and leadership
Educational – that broaden equine specific knowledge and experience in the areas of lifestyle, psychology, communication, behaviour, healing, handling and training.
For the Inexperienced
Although mounted opportunities will be available in the near future, all current Experiences are ground-based and are therefore suitable for those without any prior experience of horses. Over-coming a fear of horses is a WOW! herd speciality and all visits are closely supervised and essential safety guidelines provided.
For the Experienced
Opportunities also exist for horse owners, therapists and others who work in equine or animal related fields or Organisations who are seeking a fresh approach that will take their understanding to a completely new dimension. Much of the content of WOW! educational workshops and personal coaching days can not be found in books, DVD’s or Equestrian training Programmes.
The Whispering World Herd
The power behind the WOW! Experience is the Whispering World Herd owned and created by WOW! Founder Helen Wingstedt. The Herd, who operate as naturally as possible for one that is domesticated, are a mix of mares and geldings many of whom have been given a fresh start in life. The rescues, including race horses scheduled for euthanasia have been returned to full health as a result of 'Nature's Way', Helen’s unique approach to health, healing and happiness and the corner stone of the Experiences and Education available. The Herd has been ten years in the making and the horses have become specialists in the jobs they do in ways that have to be seen to be believed.
Hundreds of thoroughbreds leave racing every year. Some go on to new homes as competition horses, some find their way to charities that rehome but many of these horses, injured or considered unsuitable for rehoming are euthanised. Given the opportunity, however, many of these horses would recover and either return to racing or go on to be great riding horses or companions. It is the aim of ‘WOW’ to provide as many of these horses as possible the chance to heal and in so doing provide guests with unique opportunities to understand all aspects of the healing process and transfer much of their learning to their human counter-parts.
An integral part of this is the creation of a state of the art hospitalisation and rehabilitation Centre that will be open to all. ‘WOW’ horses, once recovered and fully integrated into the Herd would be able to return the favour by providing people with their very own ‘Horse Experience’.
The Founder
The founder of World of Whispers is Cardiff based healing and equine specialist Helen Wingstedt. Helen, 46, is well-known for her natural gifts and ability to facilitate transformation in the people and animals she works with. In the human, equine and canine worlds, Helen has a reputation for often achieving the seemingly impossible, her client base stretching across four continents as a result.
Helen’s approach to health, wellbeing and communication is holistic, practical and involved the creation of a ‘species bridge’. Her approach encourages Horses to reveal who they really are and to show what they’re capable of - bringing hope, healing, happiness and inspiration into the lives of children and adults able to witness the wonders of whispering with horses who are free from the constraints normally placed upon them.
Prior to 1999 and the onset of illness, Helen had enjoyed a successful career in sales and marketing. During her own recovery process, she was amazed by the powerfully educational and therapeutic benefits of interacting with ‘Q’ her recently acquired ex-racing thoroughbred. In 2003, keen to offer others the same opportunity she created ‘Wholly Horses’ and began the journey to establish an innovative charitable Organisation dedicated to the spiritual upliftment of people and the future of the horse – WOW! World of Whispers.
The History
As ‘Wholly Horses’, Helen’s horses lived as a herd, neither shod nor stabled and free to roam their territory making their own decisions as to when and where to go, what and how to feed and whom to befriend. Guests were invited to join the herd by the herd themselves with Helen acting as interpreter of the communication and relationship building taking place. Hundreds of private and Professional people over the years travelled thousands of miles from Australia, Russia, Netherlands, USA, Canada to engage in Wholly Horse Experiences that relieved depression, raised self-esteem, built personal boundaries, increased confidence and developed self-leadership. The results were astounding and the concept a great success with Helen guesting on TV, radio shows/documentaries and being featured in a variety of magazines and newspapers.
The Future
Helen plans to establish three WOW! World of Whispers Centres the first in Norfolk in the UK will open in Easter 2010 followed by another in the USA and one in Australia. In addition to the Experiences currently available there will be a Programme of Courses and Coaching targeted to inspire a new generation of political, commercial and organisational Leaders. Programmes will be available to Progressive Individuals, Schools, Colleges, Sporting Teams and Organisations looking for innovative ways to achieve sustainable success with a social conscience.
