“Zi is our 6 year old family labrador. She was born with hip and knee dysplasia on both sides. Two years ago, Zi suffered a ruptured ligament, disaster struck on Boxing Day 2022 when she ruptured the other side.
Over the last two years, Zi has been back and forth to the vet for assistance with knees and hips. She has been on medication and has had X-rays, manipulations, palpations and assessments by vets and orthopaedic experts who said operations, followed by weeks of intensive nursing and confinement, to restrict movement, would be needed for her to walk again.
The new ligament rupture was worse than the last. I was told that an operation was high risk and that Zi would experience a great deal of pain. That it would fail if her movements were not controlled and monitored. I was told that rehabilitation would start immediately and continue for up to 6 months after the op. Massage, strength and conditioning exercises, physio and hydrotherapy would probably be needed and a maintenance regime put in place. I was told it was the only way forward.
Bearing all of this in mind, on 8 January 2023, in desperation, I consulted Helen to see if she could help.
At the point of seeing Helen on the 8th, Zi was at her lowest. Her head was low and heavy.
The following day, due to see the orthopaedic specialist, I noticed she was able to stand on her leg – she even managed to walk up and down the ramp into my van easier without hesitation! She was happier and altogether different from the previous day. I couldn’t believe it!!
Ten days later, her dog walker commented (unprompted) that Zi had improved so much and that you could hardly notice her limp. I hadn’t mentioned that Zi was seeing Helen.
By the 30 January, Zi’s mobility had improved to the point where it was better than it was BEFORE her ligament rupture on boxing day. She’s improving every day and no longer depressed. She’s happier, brighter and more upbeat – like her young self!
Everything about her is changing and it’s all thanks to Helen. Not just her special abilities but because of all her knowledge, the insight she provides and the support she gives you in putting a new system in place for your dog, everything from nutrition to exercise is covered. She’s there to guide you at every step and not just for a 45 minute appointment.
Thank you SO much Helen, you are an absolute legend, the best Healer in the world!
